Is the redacted content truly removed?

Not by the black boxes alone. They cover the content visually, and the underlying text can remain in the file. To remove it, convert the redacted PDF to images and back to PDF, which leaves only the flattened picture with no selectable text.

Can redactions be reversed or undone?

If you only draw boxes, a technically skilled person may still recover the text underneath. After you convert the pages to images and rebuild the PDF, the covered areas are baked into the picture. Always keep the original file.

What about metadata and hidden content?

Our tool redacts visible content in marked areas. For complete sanitization, consider using dedicated metadata removal tools.

Is this compliant with legal requirements?

We cannot promise regulatory compliance. For legal, medical or government disclosures, use the image-conversion step, check the final file carefully, and follow your organisation's redaction policy.

Can I redact images as well as text?

Yes, you can draw redaction boxes over any content including images, signatures, logos, and diagrams.
